30 Hour Famine - Friday, February 24, 2012

Once again, our Junior and Senior EYC youth groups will participate in World Vision’s 30-hour famine. We will join other youth groups across the globe that will go 30 hours without food to raise money to feed hungry children in developing countries. We hope that as we get a taste of what it’s like to be hungry, our awareness of and compassion for the world’s poor will grow. Please pray for and consider sponsoring a member of our youth group.

We also invite you to join us to break our fast Saturday evening at 6:45 PM. We will end our 30 hours with Eucharist and a potluck dinner. Please bring a dish to share (NOT TOO SPICY! Our stomachs won't be able to handle that!) and listen to our reflections of the 30 hours.

UTO Ingathering Sunday - Sunday, November 18, 2012

UTO Ingathering Sunday, November 20th
The United Thank Offering (UTO) is a ministry of the Episcopal Church for the mission of the whole church. Through United Thank Offering, men, women and children nurture the habit of giving daily thanks to God. These prayers of thanksgiving start when we recognize and name our many daily blessings. Those who participate in UTO discover that thankfulness leads to generosity. United Thank Offering is entrusted to promote thank offerings, to receive the offerings, and to distribute the UTO monies to support mission and ministry throughout the Episcopal Church and in invited Provinces of the Anglican Communion in the developing world.

Typically, parishioners are invited to make donations to the UTO fund all year round by putting their offerings in a UTO “Blue Box” each day or time you are thankful. Also, envelopes are provided in which donations may be placed. Blue boxes will be available at the front door for the next few Sundays, and envelopes will be in the service leaflet for use also. St. Christopher’s has been very generous in donating about $1,600 annually.
