LINDA WILBERGER EGAN, SMM

Linda Wilberger Egan has just retired after fifteen years as full time Minister of Music at Pohick Episcopal Church in Lorton, VA, where she oversaw an active music program with six musical groups, three of which she conducted: an adult choir, a teen choir and a bell choir.

She is a composer and text author of anthems and hymns. Her hymn, “The first one ever, oh ever, to know” is #673 in The Hymnal 1982, and her Song of Hannah, “I have borrowed him of the Lord,” is #149 in the Episcopal hymnal supplement Voices Found.

She graduated with honors from Gettysburg College with a B.S. Mus. Ed., and with honors from Union Theological Seminary School of Sacred Music with an SMM; her organ teachers include Dale Krider, Dexter Weikel, and Vernon deTar. She has served congregations in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Virginia, and played organ recitals in those states and in South Carolina.
