The Rev. Susan Goff |

The Rev. Susan Goff has been rector of St. Christopher's since 1994. Her wide ranging ministry includes activities with people of all ages, from infants through senior citizens. In addition to ministry in the parish, she is adjunct instructor in liturgics at Virginia Theological Seminary, leader of the annual Postulancy Formation Retreat for the Diocese of Virginia, and serves in a variety of regional and diocesan ministries. Before serving St. Christopher's Church, Mother Susan was rector of Immanuel Church in Mechanicsville, Virginia for eight years, chaplain of St. Catherine's School in Richmond, Virginia, for three years, and chaplain of St. Margaret's School in Tappahannock, Virginia, for three years. She was ordained to the priesthood in May of 1981. Before ordination, Mother Susan served for two years as lay minister at St. Michael's Mission on the Wind River Indian Reservation in Wyoming, did a summer ministry internship at the Grand Canyon in Arizona, and was Camp Coordinator of Eagle's Nest Camp, Diocese of Newark, for three years. She graduated with distinction from Union Theological Seminary in New
York City in 1980, and with high honors and honors in psychology from
Douglass College, Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, in
1975.
Mother Susan is an artist who paints, sculpts and does a variety of fiber arts and mixed media work. She incorporates artistic expression in ministry. Tameel the Camel, Ollie the Ostrich and Grannie MacEwe the sheep (puppets who assist Mother Susan during children's sermons) have been part of the St. Christopher's community since 1997, 1999 and 2001 respectively. |
